About

Hi bookworms. Thanks for visiting.

Welcome to my virtual bookshelf.

A little about me: I’m a 26-year-old Jersey girl living in Brooklyn. I love to read (no surprise there), write, travel to new places and make people laugh. I’m a water sign, which means I’m naturally daydreamy, but more specifically I’m a Cancer, which makes matters even better or worse depending on how you look at it. I also love the ocean, being outside, animals of all shapes and sizes, and just about anything coconut-flavored.

Currently, I’m pursuing my master’s degree in print journalism with a concentration in arts and culture reporting. Not sure where that’s going to take me just yet; some days I want to be an editor for The Paris Review with an office full of built-ins and color-coded stacks. Other days, I want to be an uninhibited travel writer with nothing by my side but a backpack and camera. All in due time, I suppose.

Until then, I started this blog for two reasons:

  1. I read. A lot. To my friend’s dismay, I have no problems cancelling plans to stay on my couch and continue reading. I always have a book (or two) on me and jump at the chance to make recommendations. I’m also a big fan of the “bookstagram” community and earlier this year thought to myself “I could do that…” while scrolling through my feed. Hence, baby’s first bookstagram.
  2. I write. A lot. But between writing for class and freelancing for work, it’s difficult to step back and just write for fun. This seemed like the perfect way to hold myself accountable, unwind and just write about one of the things I love most in life–a good read.

So, that’s how Frankie’s Bookshelf came to be. I’ll keep reading and sharing my thoughts along the way. Stay tuned for reviews, musings, and more, and don’t hesitate you send me your own book recs–Lord knows I can never have enough.

Happy reading 🙂
